Aakash Chopra Questions Ishan Kishan’s Commitment, Return to Team India Unclear

Ishan Kishan’s Return to Team India in Doubt After Missing Ranji Trophy

Ishan Kishan’s return to Team India is in doubt after the wicketkeeper-batsman missed the Ranji Trophy.

Former cricketer and expert Aakash Chopra has also slammed Kishan, saying that he should have played in the Ranji Trophy if he is serious about returning to the Indian team.

Kishan’s troubles began with the South Africa tour. He took a break from the tour citing mental health reasons. He was then not selected for the T20I series against Afghanistan.

When Kishan was not given a place in the first two Tests against England, questions were raised about his exclusion. In response, Team India coach Rahul Dravid said that if Kishan wants to make a comeback, he will have to play some kind of cricket. But Kishan did not participate in a single Ranji Trophy match.

Chopra backs Dravid

Chopra supported Dravid, saying, “Whatever Rahul has said is correct. Rahul Dravid said that he should first make himself available, play some kind of cricket. How can someone be selected for Team India who is not playing cricket? This cannot be accepted. The Ranji Trophy is going on at this time. First-class cricket is happening. He should play. If you don’t talk to anyone, don’t even tell that you are available, then how can you make a comeback?”

Kishan’s options

Kishan now has a few options to make himself available for selection. He can either play in the remaining Ranji Trophy matches or join the India A team for the upcoming tour of South Africa.

The India A team will be playing three unofficial Tests and five one-day matches against South Africa A. This will be a good opportunity for Kishan to get some match practice and prove his fitness and form.

If Kishan performs well in the India A tour, he will be in contention for a place in the Indian team for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka.

Conclusion

Ishan Kishan’s return to Team India is not impossible, but it will be difficult. He will need to play some cricket and prove his fitness and form. The India A tour of South Africa is a good opportunity for him to do that.
